Thom made an noise like an angry cat as Loiosh began to hiss loudly at him. He made the same noise back as if to prove that he could do it just as well. "And what are you smirking at?" he asked Halo churlishly.
He leaned against the professor's desk and began to twirl his wand on the end of his fingers, staring at Novella and her pets with a significant dislike.

"You and your tantrum over a lizard." she said airily, as if it was something everyone pondered now and again. "And I was thinking what kind of panic attack you might have if a pack of dragons happened to land on campus for some strange and most definatly unknown reason..." her eyes didn't move once from her little drawing.

Thom's eyes widdened at Halo. "I am not afraid of dragons!" he shouted with a high pitched voice, although no one in the room had even mentioned anything about fear or dragons directly. "And why the hell would a load of dragons come to Hogwarts...? You best not be planning anything." he said reproachfully.

She finally looked up at him and smiled, "Now tell me, how could a little sixth year like me get a horde of dragons to come to school all of the sudden without anybody knowing about it?" she asked as she batted her eyelashes innocently. She giggled, "Don't worry, if I do plan something like that I'll let you know so that you can come and prove to everyone that you aren't afraid of them." A look of calm contentedness glazed her face and she went back to drawing once again, ignoring most everything and waiting for class to begin.

Thom gaped at her, his cheeks turning an ugly red and his lips curling into thin lines and anger. "Well I - you... I don't - ACCIO DRAWING!" he shouted, unable to think of anything else to shoot back at her.

She laugheda bit, finding it amusing that she could ruffle someone so easily withotu particularly trying to. She was just making conversation, and not particularly even that. She then watched his expression as his hand grasped her paper. She had been scribbling little incantations onto the paper. It was now enchanted so that it only showed what the holder of it wanted to see. Not their hearts desire or anythign of the like along those lines, simply what the person had expected to see written on the paper, or what they wanted to see written on it. She was curious as to what Thom saw, "Do you like it?" she asked cheerily.

Thom's suspicions were confirmed, and he glared, unfuriated, at the intricate sketch of the Hogwarts castle, magically enchanted dragons diving about in 2D before him, passing the trees and turrets with awkward movement. Down bellow on the ground stood a wobbly little figure with long hair and a scowling expression, circles for tears falling from his face. A little arrow pointed towards him, 'Thom' scrawled next to it. A little further away stood a crowd of laughing Ravenclaws with Halo the biggest of them.
He looked at Halo. "You're evil." he said a little too humourlessly. "Evanesco!" he threw the paper into the air, and with a gentle pop it vanished.

She began laughing, long loud and clear. "Why am I evil? What did I do? Simply enchanted a paper so that you'd only see what you wanted to see, and what do I get for my efforts? Slander! Slander I say!!!" she said in an over dramatic way, placing one hand on her head while the othe lilted beside the chair. "So what exactly was on the paper?" she asked, recovering her usual composure and resting her chin on her hands, wondering what Thom had wanted to see that made her such an evil person.

"Enchanted...?" he muttered thickly.
He cleared his throat. "None of your business what I saw!" he snapped.
He turned back to Rainer, who was still ignoring him, and put all his engery into the ringering the bike bell over and over next to his ear, becoming more impatient. "Show us some spells!" he yelled.

She snickered at his response to her question, then rolled her eyes when he began to torment the teacher yet again, "Give him a break, he did twice if not three times the work we did yesterday and he didn't have a sheild to fend off the cold. Besides, if you don't stop bugging him he may very well use a painful charm on you." she said in a very calm monotone voice.

Thom stopped what he was doing and stared at Halo indignatly. "Excuse me?!" he roared as he stormed up to Halo's desk and banged his fists on the wood before her. "I think I did just a bit more than everybody else!"
He held up his fingers as he began to count them off. "I get attacked by wands, half eaten by lethifolds, sucked through a portal, my broom smashes, I have to explain what a lethifold actually is, SHE BITES ME -" he pointed furiously at Novella. "I get attacked again by lethifolds, I have to drag you around while you're invisbile, and then everyone thinks I'm in a mood for no apparent reason!"
He was breathing heavily, his chest heaving.
"And what did he do?! Show up right when it was over and made everyone cold!" he glared round at Rainer.

"Okay, so you created the problem, saved me, and got bitten. Thank you again for not letting me get eaten-" she said in an honest heartfelt way. She was glad that the lethifolds didn't get her, and it was thanks to him "But you've got to admit that he and the other teacher did a right good job of cleaning up the mess you made, eh?" she said, not in the slightest intimidated by his rashness.

Thom felt guilty suddenly at her sincerity. "Yeah, sorry," he muttered. "But I didn't make that mess - the comet did. It was a simple harmless spell." he sighed heavily, dropping his head onto his chest in exhaustion. "I just don't feel right anymore. Everything was like a joke before and now it all... it feels horrible. Everything feels worthless." he looked up at her, his eyes worn and somehow older. "I don't feel like a Hufflepuff much anymore."

She smiled at him, not snidely or rudely like she might if it were Draco or someone, but in a way that she hoped would let him know it would be okay, "Hey, everyone makes mistakes. Believe me, I've made quite a few of my own. You can ask just about any teacher, most of them were part of cleaning up my messes. Once I nearly killed myself trying to use two spells that were too advanced for me but I thoguht I could do anyways. Once I wiped a kids memory..." she tried to keep from smirking, it had been wrong, but seeing the kid wander around in a daze had been quite amusing. "Believe me, in a week something worse is sure to have happened and everyone will have forgotten about this," she said confidently. "You're a Hufflepuff tried and true as I've ever met, that's for sure. Most people wouldn't have gone searching for an invisible person they barely knew when their own life was at stake due to lethifolds." she laughed slightly, trying to lighten the mood.

Thom considered what she said, then a grateful smile graced his face. "Thanks..." he said without tone or self-pity. He felt bad that he had snapped at her so much. Halo, least of all people, had caused Thom trouble. She had not attacked him, wronged him, bitten him. Thinking about it, she was the only one who had done Thom any good as of late.
He looked at Novella woefully, then moved round the table and slipped into the chair next to Halo. "I'm sorry I yelled at you." he said quietly.
