Grace was surprised by Girty. She frowned at her forcefulness and a tear ran down her cheek. She was so right, and Grace knew it. "But it's not just about that!" Grace whispered in a croaky voice, "everything is all wrong!" She could not stand any longer and flopped into Girty's arms, hugging her tightly around the neck. "I can't stand it! I've always been in the dark, always crying, always scared! I just can't stop myself! If there was a cupboard I'd been in it all the time!" she whimpered. She had been thinking of everything and everything was bothering her, I can't stand it anymore!

Girty was surprised by Graces out burst. When she fell into her arms and finished talking Girty picked her up and carried her to the nearest sofa. When she rested her down she put a pillow under her head. "Well then lets hope that light and company can break down these doors." she smiled and took the hair out of Graces eyes. "You have nothing to be scared of. We are here to protect you."

Grace let Girty lead her to the sofa and lay down with out protest. Company? she thought, maybe company is all I need... She lay her head on the pillow and stared into the fire, as though in a daze or trance. Thank you, was what she wanted to say but words failed her. She lay on the sofa looking for a way to explain her gratitude but could not.

Girty smiled and moved away. Grace needed space but she wanted to remain in her eye line in an odd way to reassure her she was her. Girty looked at Grace and could tell that by her face she held no protest and Girty was un-sure if it was just her but Grace seemed that little bit more cheerful.

Grace didn't look up from the fire but said croakily, "do you have chocolate?"
