Professor Dara walked into the room with a broad grin on her face. She carried no cages, no boxes, no crates, and no barrels. Today's class was going to be an experience like no other, as the creatures they would study, would join them at their own leisure. Dara was extremly excited. She waved her wand and re-organized the chairs from her last class so that they were back in neat rows. She then awaited her students arrival.

Lisa entered the classroom quietly, noticing not many students had arrived yet, and choosing as eat near the front. Ever since their last class, she had taken a new interest in Care of Magical Creatures, and was excited to take part in the lesson.
With a smile at Didier, she took out her quill and text, laying them down neatly on her desk.

"Good afternoon Miss Turpin," said Dara with a giddy note to her voice. She walked over to the windows and began unlatching all of them. It was a bright warm day, and with all of the people that would be joining them today and all the different ways they would be getting there, she thought it might be best to give them every different way they might need to come in.

Draco entered the room, laying his books on a desk on the far right, and sat down, glancing boredly around the room.

"Good Afternoon Mr. Malfoy," she said before lilting back to her desk, "Alright, today we'll be studying grecian creatures from mythology. Now, if she decides to show up on time today, we ought to be seeing my dear friend, Achlys, soon." She craned her neck to look out the window, when pair of lions paws set themselves on the window ledge. Professor Dider smiled, "Alright, anyone want to take a guess at what kind of creature Achlys is?"

Draco nodded his head at his professor in polite greeting, before the creature at the window's ledge caught his attention. Smirking slightly, he straightened his composure before raising his hand. "A griffin, is it, Professor?" He said, with an arrogant tone in his voice, his smirk growing.

Ron, who had been lounging in one of the farther seats, found his attention drift toward the lion paws on the window sill. With widened eyes, he pulled himself into a proper sitting position, listening to Malfoy's answer with a slight glare.
"A griffin!" Ron exclaimed, standing up, trying to get a better look.

"Griffin!? Hardly!" said a voice from outside the window. The creature leapt up onto the windowsill and stared at the slytherin boy, "For your information, I'm a sphinx." she raised her snout in the air and then began muttering, "Griffin... pah... me, a griffin. Hmph, the nerve of some people..." "Achlys, don't lose your temper... again. Remember what happened last year?" "Must you bring that up, again?" "Yes, I do. Now then, would anyone like to tell me a bit about the sphinx?" "I'm right here you know?" "Yes I know, but I'm trying to teach a class, Achlys." "Oh, yes. That... Hmm, just tell me when I get to riddle the kiddies and try to eat them," the sphinx smiles at the class, "Just so you know, I'm joking... mostly..."

Ron sent Malfoy a triumphant grin before settling back in his seat, watching the sphinx with interest. Not knowing anything about those creatures in particular, he sighed.
(Nice try though! Griffin sounded about right to me, hehe)

Draco sighed, looking somewhat putout and leaning back in his chair sulkily. "Sphinx, right." He said to himself, returning the Weasel's glare with one of his own. However, the prospect of riddles cheered him up and he looked back at lion-like creature with fascination.
((Haha, Oh well- I tried!))

"No takers to talk about me? I'm almost hurt... It's probably because the ministry won't dub me a being isn't it? Of course it is, just because my kind is violent I'm a beast and not a being. So unfair..." the sphinx rolled over on her back, "So straight to the riddle then Dara?" "Fine, Achlys. But no, I repeat no, attacking the students." "Aww, c'mon Dara. I won't hurt them, just rattle 'em a bit. You know you want to leeet meee." Achlys said in a sing-song voice. "Want to, yes. Am allowed to, no. So again, what are we not doing, Achlys?" Achlys smirked a bit, "We aren't attacking the students." the sphinx rolled back over and faced the class, "Alrighty then. Today's first riddle ought to be simple for anyone with half a brain. Many eyes have I, and yet I can not see. Above the ground I'll not be found for then I burn bright green. What am I?"

Halo started to raise her hand, thinking she knew the answer, but then decided against it. If she was wrong she didn't even want to know what this Sphinx would do to her. The way it said 'we' in it's last sentence was not too reassuring.

The sphinx leapt onto the Ravenclaw girls desk, "You're an Ollivander aren't you. Your uncle was always the first to guess my riddles, you wouldn't want to let the family legacy down, would you?" she smiled, showing rows of sharp white teeth. "Achlys, don't make the girl nervous. Come now, off her desk." "Pah, fine..." she stepped lightly back down onto the floor, then with a backwards glance said, "Though it might intrigue you to know that I give a mane hair to anyone who guesses correctly three times. That was always your uncle's motivation..." "Achlys!" "Dara! Oh, my. Lookit that, we know each others names." The Sphinx smirked, then curled up by the Professors desk, "Let me know when someone wants to guess... this is going to be one long day..."

Keifer looked around. "Glow Worm?" He asked unsure. He knew it probably wasnt the right answer but he thought to go for it anyway. "You wont find it above ground because it lives underground. Its has loads of eyes but its blind... If its above ground it glows"

Aidan had been sitting silently in the middle of the room watching the sphinx carefully barely paying mind to the riddle as she made mental notes on the sphinxes behavior and movements.
