Ryanne leaned against a large rock holding open a Muggle Novel in front of her, her knees pulled up neatly to her chest. She took a bite of her sandwich, having brought it outside as the Great Hall was too crowded, and let out a soft sigh.
Just as she flipped the page, she felt a tug on her robes. Grinning to herself, she lowered her book and let her hand stroke the soft fur of her cat who was playing with the hem of the black material. He yawned lazily, pawing against the fabric again.
"Have a nice nap, Chase?" She asked quietly, her voice laughing.

"Do you actually expect that... That thing to respond? And I thought Hufflepuffs couldn't get any more mental." Draco's crisp voice cut through the chilly air like a knife and he leaned against a nearby tree, looking at the lake. He turned his head toward the girl, a smirk on his face.

Ryanne frowned, her gaze lifting and finding a figure leaning against a tree just a few feet away. "He does respond," She said quietly, looking back at Chase with a smile, listening to the drowsy purring.
Looking back at the boy, she marked her page. "Er- You can pet him if you like... He's really friendly," she said nervously, avoiding eye contact.

Draco took a few hesitant steps closer to the girl and the offending animal, making a face. "As if I'd want to touch that thing," he said distastefully, "What if it's carrying some deadly disease... Or worse, Hufflepuff germs."

Ryanne looked at the boy, slightly offended, before straightening her composure and picking up her cat gently. "He's not some thing," she started, upset he had insulted her companion. She gathered her book, opening her previous page, "Who are you anyway?" She asked, not liking the smirking boy at all thus far.

Draco smirked, standing up superiorly and brushing off his robes. "Draco Malfoy. Though, you can call me Malfoy. Hufflepuffs really don't have the privilege of using my first name, I'm afraid to say," he started off pompously, ignoring the disgusted look on the girls face. "I know it's a pleasure to meet me, you don't have to say it."
He looked down at the girl, arms crossed and an amused smirk lingering on his lips.

Ryanne looked at the boy disbelievingly for a moment before casting him a slightly annoyed look. "Er... Right. Well, I'm Ryanne Mason." She shifted awkwardly, looking at the grass in front of her. The winds were getting colder and she started to gather her things, hoping to get inside before any snow began to fall.

Draco looked at the cat, scowling slightly, and then back at the girl. He noticed her begin to collect her things and huddled his robes around him, the cold beginning to bite at his ears. "What type of cat is he, anyway?" He asked, trying not to let the curiosity in his voice show.

Walking down by the lake she saw two figures in a seemingly normal conversation, but when she saw the pasty skin of Malfoy, and the yellow trimmings of the other girls robes she could only imagine what the conversation was about, she heard Malfoy say something about a cat and interjected, "Now why would you be interested in a cat? Aren't the only suitable pets for Slytherins snakes or bats or spiders, or some other hid- awkward creature?" she stopped herself from the rude comment she had benn about to make and tried to make pleasant conversation, remembering Professor Algy's repremand. "What kind of pet do you have anyhow?" she asked as she tried to help the Hufflepuff girl collect her things. She lowered her voice and said, "Hey, I'm Halo, I don't think we've met?"

Ryanne glanced at the Ravenclaw thankfully, gathering her things in her arms and sending a smile Helia's way. "Ryanne," she said in the same soft tone, accepting her things and placing them neatly in her bag. "Nice to meet--" The sound of another boy's voice interrupted her and she looked up at the sound, noticing the Gryffindor's badge on the robes. She gave a small smile to him as he talked with Helia, turning her attention back to her cat.

Draco looked at Ollivander coldly, all traces of amusement gone from his face. "I believe it's rude to interrupt other people's conversations, Ollivander," he sneered. He looked back at the Hufflepuff, then to Jobalia and let his arms fall to his sides, his face still emotionless and calm. Then he turned around and walked briskly back to the castle, his eyes narrowed.

Leigh walked past the stalking form of Malfoy, returning to the castle. Leigh continued on until he found the small group of students, clustered together. He smiled at each of them proudly.
"Hello all, what did Mr Malfoy say?" Leigh asked, knowing he'd punish the lad if he did anything wrong.

"well, next time you see him, tell him several Professor's are keeping an eye on him." Leigh said. "Also, for his unique behaviour, 5 points from Slytherin."
